Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme for Students of
Minority Communities (100% Centrally Sponsored).
Under this scheme scholarships would
be provided to poor and meritorious students belonging to Minority Communities for pursuing Technical and Professional Courses at degree
and post-graduate levels from a recognized institution.
The number of Scholarships for the State of
Haryanawould be 129 for Muslims, 124 for
Sikhs, 3 for Christians and one for Buddhists.
An amount of Rs. 29.97 lacs has been sanctioned under this scheme by the Govt.
of India to cover 132 beneficiaries for the year 2007-08. A provision of Rs. 75 lacs has been proposed
for the current financial year 2008-09 to cover the target of 257 beneficiaries.
(ii) Scheme of Post-Matric Scholarship for Students belonging to the Minority
Communities (100% Centrally Sponsored).
Under this scheme Post
Matric Scholarship would be provided to the Minority Communities, as
notified by the Central Government i.e. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhist and
Parsis, pursuing higher education, from class XI upto Ph.D, and technical and
vocational courses of Industrial Training Institutes/Industrial Training
Centres (affiliated with NCVT) in Government school/ college/institute
or school /college/institute recognized by appropriate authority.
An amount of Rs. 13.53 lacs
has been sanctioned under this scheme by the Govt. of India to cover 255 beneficiaries
for the year 2007-08. A provision of Rs. 110 lacs has been proposed for the current
financial year 2008-09 to cover the target of 964 beneficiaries
(iii) Free Coaching
& Allied Scheme for the Candidates belonging to Minority Communities (100% Centrally Sponsored).
Under this scheme Free Coaching for the Candidates belonging to Minority Communities
i.e. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis
with the objective to assist such students by way of following Special Coaching
:-

Qualifying examinations for admission in technical/professional
courses such as engineering, law, medical, management, information technology etc.
and language/aptitude examinations for seeking admission in foreign universities.

Competitive examinations for recruitment to
Group ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ services and other equivalent posts under the Central
and State governments including police/security forces, public sector undertakings,
Railways, banks, insurance companies as well as autonomous bodies; and

Coaching for jobs in the private sector such
as in airlines, shipping, information technology (IT), business process outsourcing
(BPO) and other IT enabled services, hospitality,
tours and travels, maritime, food processing, retail, sales & marketing, bio-technology
and other job oriented courses as per the emerging trend of employment.
· Remedial coaching at undergraduate
and post-graduate level to improve the academic knowledge and enable the student
to catch up with the rest of the class and complete the course successfully.
An amount of Rs. 1.40 lac
has been sanctioned under this scheme by the Govt. of India to M/s.
Mewat Model School Society, Nuh. The
proposal for releasing of grant-in-aid of 4 NGOs
amounting to Rs. 144.95 lacs
has been sent to Govt. of India for the year 2007-08. A sum of
Rs. 5 lac has been proposed for the current
financial year 2008-09.
(iv) Scheme of Pre-Matric
SCholarship for Students belonging to the Minority Communties (75:25%
Centrally Sponsored).
The Government of India has proposed
a Scheme of Pre-Matric Scholarship for Students belonging
to the Minority Communities. The Salient Features of the Scheme are as
under :-

The Scheme envisages a funding pattern of 75:25 ratio between
the Centre and States to begin with. It is likely to be made 100% Centrally Funded
Scheme later on.

The number of Scholarships
has been fixed on the basis of the 2001 Census of Minority population in the States.

Unlike SC/ST Scholarship Schemes where scholarships
are awarded to all the students applying for it, the Pre-Matric
Scholarship for Minority Communities will be awarded only to Meritorious Students.
It will be governed by the following conditions-
a) 50%
marks for eligibility since it is a scheme only for meritorious students.
b) Limiting
the Scholarships to only two children in a family.
c) 30%
of earmarking for Girls.
An amount of Rs. 100 lacs,
(Rs. 25 lacs is as State
Share and Rs. 75 lacs is
as Central Share)has been proposed for the Annual Plan
2008-09. Consent of the State Government for implementing the Scheme
from the current financial year 2008-09 in the proposed ratio has been sent to Govt.
of India.
(v) Scheme for the Development
of Minority Concentration Districts, Mewat and Sirsa (100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme).
The Government of India, Ministry of Minority Affairs has identified
90 Minority Concentration District consisting of substantial minority population
and which are relatively backward in terms of socio-economic indices and basic amenties, compared to the national average. It has been
decied to implement a Multi-Sectoral
Development Programme for these districts to address
the development deficits’ of these districts. The team of Indian Council of Social
Science Research (ICSSR),
New
Delhi
has been assigned the task of carrying out a baseline surveys in these districts.
The ICSSR has engaged Research Insitute affiliated with
it, to conduct the survey. Two district namely Mewat and Sirsa have been identified
for baseline survey.
An amount of Rs. 825 lacs
has been provided under this scheme for the current financial year 2008-09.
